Reducing Uncertainty
What to Expect
We'd rather over-explain your visit than have you show up unsure what's about to happen. Here's the full walkthrough.
Before Your Visit
Request your $99 new patient visit through our contact page. Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the treatment area. Bring a photo ID, a current medication list, and any relevant imaging you have. See our New Patient Offer page for what's included.
Your New Patient Exam
Your provider will discuss your history — including what you've already tried — and perform a physical exam relevant to your specific complaint. This is a real clinical evaluation, not a formality before an automatic sales pitch.
Imaging
Bring any relevant imaging you already have. Available imaging may be reviewed as part of the evaluation; when additional imaging is needed, the clinic will refer you to an appropriate imaging provider.
If Shockwave Is Appropriate
Your provider will explain their reasoning and what to expect from treatment for your specific condition. Not everyone is a candidate on their first visit — see Is Shockwave Right for Me? for more on how that determination is made.
Your First Treatment
If appropriate, your first treatment is typically provided the same visit. The complete visit takes approximately 30 minutes, including approximately 15 minutes for treatment.
What Treatment Feels Like
Most patients describe a firm, rhythmic tapping or pressure sensation, with some tenderness directly over the affected area. Your provider can adjust intensity based on your comfort.
Immediately After Treatment
Mild soreness at the treatment site is common and generally resolves within a short period. Most patients are able to walk out and resume normal daily activities the same day.
Activity Afterward
Your provider may recommend modifying specific high-impact or aggravating activities for a short period, depending on the area treated. This will be specific to your condition and plan.
Follow-Up Recommendations
Depending on your condition, your provider may recommend additional treatment sessions, a complementary exercise/loading program, or specific activity guidance. Improvement can continue for weeks after a course of treatment in some tendon conditions — your provider will set a realistic timeline with you.
How Treatment Plans Are Determined
Your plan is based on your specific diagnosis, symptom duration, prior treatment history, and how you respond to initial treatment — not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
